Bare Theatre presents
Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

At the Holly Springs Cultural Center, Holly Springs
September 21-22, 2007 (8pm Fri. & Sat. and 2pm on Sat.)

And at Common Ground Theatre, Durham
September 27-30, 2007 (8pm Th. - Sat. and 2pm on Sat. & Sun.)

Bare Theatre continues its no-holds-barred third season with one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, Twelfth Night. The production runs September 21-22 at Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center and September 27-30 at Common Ground Theatre in Durham.

After a shipwreck on an exotic coast, a twin sister and brother are separated. The sister, Viola disguises herself as a pageboy and enters the service of the duke of the land, whom she quickly falls in love with. He is in love with Olivia, a noblewoman, and he sends Viola to convey his love. Olivia in turn falls in love with Viola, whom she thinks is a young man. To top it all off, Olivia's steward is tricked by local revelers into believing that she loves him!

Disguises, pranks, drunkenness, dancing, cross-dressing and general bawdiness create a hysterically funny, madcap affair, directed by Bare's Managing Director Heather J. Hackford. Award-winning designer, Jeremy Clos, costumes the play in lavish Elizabethan costumes, and G. Todd Buker (PROXY) adds original music composition.

Bare Theatre Company is a Raleigh-based company that made its debut in 2001 with a staged reading of Shakespeare's Coriolanus and a full production of Much Ado About Nothing. It returned in 2005 with a Rogue Company production of Titus Andronicus, which was awarded runner-up for the top ten shows in 2005 by the News & Observer and The Classical Voice of North Carolina. The critically acclaimed King Lear began Bare Theatre's third full season.
