The Merchant of Venice is considered one of Shakespeare's comedies, but is remembered for its impacting dramatic moments as it follows the fates and fortunes of a group of Christian noblemen and their interactions with the Jewish moneylender Shylock. It is a love story and a romance, it has humor and tragedy, all balanced with a profound and intense story of prejudice and revenge.
